Episode Transcription

[Phone ringing, someone picks up.]

Ann Marie Baldonado: Hello?

[Light hearted string music plays]

Child: Hello, I’d like to make an appointment with Ann Marie Baldonado.

Ann Marie: Yeah, that’s me. What time would you like that appointment?

Child: From seven o’clock AM to eight o’clock PM.

Ann Marie: Uh... that seems like a really long meeting. That’s like all day.

Child: Would that be OK?

Ann Marie: I’m actually kinda busy… I’m hosting a podcast.

Ann Marie: Hey everyone. I’m Ann Marie Baldonado, host of the new show “Parent Trapped” from Common Sense Media.

Maybe you’re like me -- dealing with all day meetings with your kids, while they’re supposed to be in “school” and you’re supposed to be at “work.”

The way we are living right now-- parenting during a pandemic-- it’s tough.  There’s so much to manage. Screen time, being your kid’s teacher, keeping your family safe in the world and on the internet. And then of course, there’s that ongoing anxiety.

I find it to be overwhelming, because it is. But that is what this show is for.  We are here to help you feel less trapped. I’m gonna talk to all kinds of people... authors, educators, artists, comedians --

Child: Is it gonna be funny then?

Ann Marie: To bring you solutions that’ll help you through your day. We’ll get recommendations on what to watch and read and activities to do with your kids.

Child: It sounds brilliant.

Ann Marie: Plus we want to hear from you! What questions do you have right now? How are you getting through this? Send your questions and tips (especially the strange ones) to parenttrapped@commonsense.org and we might invite you on the show!

Parent Trapped from Common Sense Media. New episodes on Wednesdays.

Child: Wait, what about our meeting?! I’m not really British.
